I am very glad to make public acknowledgment of the benefits I have received in Christian Science, in the hope that some one else may be led to the knowledge of the truth. Three years ago I was forced to seek physical aid through Christian Science, having exhausted every known material remedy for an intestinal trouble of over three years' standing. I had very persistently tried them all before I gave in, believing like many others that I was very much opposed to Christian Science, something which I knew nothing about. I had even tried Chinese herb doctors, mental suggestion, and electricity, all to no avail. I then went to the dreaded surgeon, and after making an examination he pronounced the trouble chronic appendicitis. At the end of a two-weeks treatment with medicine and a strict diet an operation was performed, from which my recovery seemed slow.

Three months after this experience I was taken with more acute attacks of pain than I had before experienced. I was also unable to retain any food, scarcely even water, and medicine was having no effect. My strength was rapidly decreasing, and I was getting only temporary relief from hypodermics when I asked for my first treatment in Christian Science. I was amazed at being told to eat my dinner and to eat anything I wanted. I ate the first real meal I had had for some time, and with very little discomfort afterward, and after the second day all sense of pain and fear of eating had left me. I gained rapidly in strength, and since that time I have resorted to no other remedy than Christian Science for ills of any kind. I have had many beautiful demonstrations and witnessed many others in our family.

I have learned by constant study of our Lesson-Sermons that it is not enough to believe, but we must understand this healing truth which our Leader has given us so simply in our text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," for this enables us to demonstrate its teachings.
