I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, for...
I wish to express my gratitude for Christian Science, for what it has done and is doing in my daily life. One demonstration for which I am particularly grateful came to me recently. In the latter part of 1910, I had to go back to my work in the evening. The night was very dark and I wished to take a certain car. I was a block away when I heard the car coming, and forgetting that divine Love meets "every human need" (Science and Health, p. 494), I made a wild dash for the car, and just as I reached it I fell. I was unable to rise, but the conductor picked me up and I started for home. On reaching home a Christian Science practitioner was telephoned to and asked to help me; but the sense of pain was very intense. I did not sleep any, and my sister read to me from the Bible and Science and Health throughout the night. The practitioner was called up twice in the night, and it was morning before I fell asleep. When I awoke the intense pain was gone, but I still suffered. I remained in bed three days, and on the fourth day I arose, but my arm was out of place, and I was unable to move it. For two days it remained in this position, but the practitioner told me to be faithful and to study the Lesson-Sermon in The Christian Science Quarterly. On the seventh day, as I was standing perfectly still, a sudden pain seized my arm and it turned and went into place, dropping down by my side in its natural position. The following day I resumed work.
To me this was a wonderful demonstration, for it proved that divine Mind was the surgeon and that God is an ever-present help in time of trouble. For eight years my home folks have proved that Love is ever present and that we have nothing to fear so long as we abide in this consciousness. I am truly grateful to God for Christian Science, and to our Leader for her wonderful unfoldment of it.
