For a long time I have felt that I must in some way express my great debt of gratitude for Christian Science, and I know no better way to do so than to give an account through the Sentinel of some of the many blessings I have received. Within the last fourteen years I was compelled to undergo two very serious operations, which robbed me entirely of my health for twelve years; in fact, I was a total wreck. I was unable to sleep from the effects, also was subject to spasms which some days came on hourly. I often wished for death, but thanks to this blessed truth I can now say that omnipotence has all power, and this has been proved for me by perfect demonstrations. I wish to say that I was healed with a few treatments of a chronic bowel disorder, from which I had suffered since childhood; also many ills which have baffled the skill of materia medica have disappeared through my understanding of Truth.
Through reading the text-book and the Bible as explained in Christian Science, I learned that God gives us strength to do all we have to do, and that it is the things we should not do (the envyings, strife, emulating, vainglorying, and so on) which leave in their wake fatigue and discord.
Gratitude to God, also to our beloved Leader, Mrs. Eddy, can be expressed only by daily effort to put into practise what has been taught us in her writings. My greatest desire is that God may enable me to follow in her footsteps.
