There is no record that Jesus or his followers ever cast out of any person anything physical, although they healed all manner of diseases, and those who were healed had life more abundantly. Truth or reality is defined as "that which persists in consciousness," and Jesus spoke of his Father as "true" and as dwelling in him, and not only in himself but he also declared, "The kingdom of God is within you," that is, in all men; and so, when the prodigal was in a "far country" he was in a state of error, not conscious of Truth.

Nowhere in the writings of Mrs. Eddy does she claim an immediate fulfilment of all the promises of the Bible; on the contrary, she says that it may be many generations, even centuries, before true and exact knowledge of God will prove that Life and God are one. Nevertheless, a careful study of Christian Science shows the vastness of the work to be done, and that today is not too soon to begin the cleansing and purifying of each individual consciousness, making it a fit place for the Christ, who forever stands knocking and waiting to be recognized, to enter and live with that individual. Correctness in all metaphysical reasoning is essential, in order that we may be merciful even as our Father in heaven is merciful.
