I have been so often helped by the testimonies in our periodicals that for a long time I have wished that I might also have the privilege of helping some one in return. Three years ago I heard a lecture on Christian Science which convinced me there and then that at last I had found Truth, and I felt that nothing else mattered but to learn more about it. Our home was not a happy one at that time, as I had been a constant sufferer for many years, and had grown discontented and irritable. I had tried seven doctors, two of them specialists, and had been told that my troubles arose from liver derangement, brought on by malaria contracted when in my teens out in Asia Minor. The last doctor gave me no hope of a cure, only a diet list and many directions how to keep free from pain; I was assured that I could never be strong and healthy. In addition to this trial, my husband was always ailing, and besides that he was a great gambler and never happy unless at the card-tables. All this caused me to send our only child, a girl of eight, away to boarding-school, because I felt the home atmosphere was anything but good for her. Thus I was a lonely, sorrowful, suffering woman, sorely needing the wondrous message which reached me through that lecture, and at the close I remember thinking that if only I could get to know more about it all, perhaps I could help my husband and we should be happy. Those who read his testimony in the Sentinel of July 30, 1910, will know the result of my earnest desire, how it more than fulfilled my greatest expectation. In addition to his physical healing, and far transcending it, came a marvelous regeneration; he was indeed "born again"!

I obtained my physical freedom solely through the reading of the text-book, and it came very quickly. For this I am exceedingly grateful, but the best of all is the help which comes from the study of Christian Science in the casting out of sin, and slowly but surely exchanging the "lusts of the flesh" for "the fruit of the Spirit." This is a daily source of comfort and joy to me, and I think of Mrs. Eddy many times each day with gratitude, because her writings have enabled me to "search the Scriptures" and in them to find at least a foretaste of "eternal life;" whereas, before, I could not understand the Bible and it was of no help to me. Last, but by no means least, my little daughter is now an earnest student in the Christian Science Sunday school here, so our household is united and happy, instead of discordant and wretched. For all these blessings I do indeed thank our loving heavenly Father, and pray often that I may be found strong in the faith and giving glory to God.—Violet Rhodes, Headingley, Leeds, England.
