It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give my testimony...
It is with a heart full of gratitude that I give my testimony of healing in Christian Science. Almost six years ago, when my little son was thirteen days old, a consultation of doctors decided that I had an obstruction in a vein of my left leg and that any movement of the leg would cause instant death. I was expected to remain in bed with the leg supported on pillows for three months or longer. A Christian Science friend then asked a practitioner to come to me; which she did, and talked to me of Christian Science. She came twice before giving me treatment, and after each of her visits I felt so much happier that the physician coming in and finding me sitting up in bed said, "You look so much brighter! Has an angel visited you?" I dismissed the physician and had Christian Science treatment for some weeks, the result being that in a few days I was able to sit up and in two weeks could go out. My physical condition improved in every way, and I also received great help mentally from Christian Science.
Three months later I was in Paris, and in telling my experience to a physician, he replied, "Well, if you had done as the doctors said, you would probably have had a stiff leg and might have required a serious operation. But I am surprised that you did not die, for you took a terrible chance!" Even after this wonderful demonstration of the truth I was not ready to realize Science in its greater import. Then came family troubles, loss of friends, backslidings, a general mental upheaval, in which error seemed rampant, until I felt life was not worth living. But the seed of Truth was not lost, for in my innermost thought I knew that when I was ready to stand for Truth and Christian Science I should have harmony and peace.
I can truthfully say that Christian Science has helped me mentally, morally, and physically, and has made life worth living. It is my earnest desire to learn more, and each day to demonstrate Christian Science, thereby to show my gratitude for the many blessings received,—gratitude to God for having given us this truth through Mrs. Eddy, and for her wonderful example.
