LOVE'S RECOMPENSE

Think not, faint heart, that thou canst lack
Thy heritage of love,
Since God Himself thy portion is,
Who giveth every child of His
Full measure from above.

Think, rather, that thy brother's need
May greater be than thine,
And that, with self-forgetful heart,
Thou may'st to him God's love impart,
And swell the chord divine.

So shall thine own heart know release
From pain; thy care shall flee.
The sower reapeth as he sows;
The love thou givest overflows
And comes again to thee!
