A large majority of the members of the Christian Science church have come to it on account of having received many benefits, and they are always willing to testify to the regeneration that has taken place in their lives through its practice and teaching. Mrs. Eddy's philosophy, said our critic, "was a kind of idealistic pantheism." The definition of God as given on page 465 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" is this: "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." This understanding of God is not pantheism, and the cures effected thereby do prove to us that her philosophy is right, because the Master said: "Heal the sick" and "Ye shall know them by their fruits." Our critic is also reported to have said: "The trouble with Mrs. Eddy was that she overworked the truth." Did Jesus overwork the truth when he went about "healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people"? He said: "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free."
