It is with a grateful heart that I wish to tell of the blessings I have experienced through Christian Science. For sixteen years I suffered with severe attacks of gallstone, and was treated unsuccessfully by many physicians. I also tried many remedies, but in vain. During the last three years the condition became so aggravated that I was seldom able to be up, and had to stay in bed the greater part of the time. My bowels were so inactive that artificial means had to be employed all the time. The physician could not reassure me, but said that unless an operation was performed, my trouble would grow worse.
I then heard of Christian Science, but could not understand its teachings at that time, for I was convinced that God sends suffering and that we must submit to it patiently. The fear of the operation robbed me of my peace, however, and my thoughts constantly turned to Christian Science. Finally I applied to a Christian Science practitioner, who lovingly took up treatment. I attended the meetings regularly, and became aware of the fact that my condition improved daily. Gradually I began to understand that God is Love, infinite good, and that He does not afflict us. Through Christian Science I have received health and found contentment, and I am convinced that the error will not manifest itself again, if I strive for the truth diligently and faithfully. I am deeply grateful to God for all these blessings, and I thank Mrs. Eddy for having shown us the way to truth.
