Christian Science first came to my notice about six years ago, when a friend of mine who had been healed loaned me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I had read but a few lines when I felt that I had found something which I needed, although I once thought I had all one could ask; but the knowledge of God, and man's relation to Him, I had not. I had no special religious training, but my dear mother had often told me to do right and fear nothing. I would go to one church and another with my girl friends, and tried to be interested in the sermons, but nothing had ever inspired me with a desire to read the Bible; so first of all I am very grateful for Christian Science because it led me to read that grand old book.

I believe that the very first thing I gave up, after starting to read Science and Health, was a belief in the power of medicine. I felt so happy that I had found the truth, although I had not then been able to test it. About a year after I came into Science, however, the opportunity came. In the old thought I had a great fear of childbirth, but this was all overcome when my little boy was born. The experience was a revelation of divine Love to me; I had such faith in God that I desired no material help. I knew that God is no respecter of persons, and the knowledge I had gained satisfied me; consequently everything was natural and the birth painless. I was not sick or even weak a minute at any stage of this experience. How I loved God, and all the prophets of old, and Christ Jesus. Last but not least, I was deeply grateful to dear Mrs. Eddy for bringing to our perception what had always been true. How grateful I felt in my own consciousness! I did not need several proofs, one was enough.

My boy is now five years old, and is in perfect health. He had an attack of whooping-cough, but it was overcome in Christian Science. I know I have started right, and my desire is to be able to live this truth.
