Nearly six years ago I was advised to try Christian Science, after the doctors held out no hope of my recovery. My mother had passed on with the same trouble which I had, a so-called tubercular disease of the throat. The doctors gave me a powerful drug as a last resort, and this left me in a worse condition than before, as it added to my already heavy load by putting my stomach in such a condition that I would go for days without eating.
I called on a Christian Science Practitioner principally for the throat trouble, on account of the cough. After receiving the second treatment she advised me to go home, eat my supper, and retire. I told her I was afraid to eat, but she said that I could eat anything I liked. I did so, and have never had any trouble with my stomach since that time. The other trouble yielded more slowly, and it was this that kept me anchored to the truth, but the first healing of my stomach proved to me that there were many useful, happy days in store for me. I knew I could be healed, and that much depended upon my own efforts; so I set to work studying "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, and since that time I have been enabled, through this inspiring truth, to get help physically, financially, morally, and spiritually, besides having had the pleasure of extending a helping hand to others in need by leading them to this fountain of life.
