I wish to tell others of the benefits received through the careful study of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy. I have been interested in Christian Science over five years. The text-book was given me to read, and knowing nothing of Christian Science, I approached it with open mind. The first sentence of the Preface riveted my attention, and before I had read the first page I knew I had found that which I had long sought, a guide to Truth; and such it has truly proved to be. Such a sense of peace came that I longed to know what had caused the change from the depressing troubled sense that had burdened my thought. By the time I had read the chapter on Prayer, I found that I did not need to use glasses any more, and I was thankful, because I had for fifteen years depended on them. This demonstration filled me with rejoicing. As I have followed the teaching of our dear Leader, step by step the way has grown brighter, and every form of error has been quickly met and conquered. Some of the ailments that were called incurable in materia medica have been stubborn, but Truth has won the victory over sciatic lameness that obliged me to go backward down stairs for more than two years. Another experience was an attack of mental derangement, which caused three doctors to send me to the state hospital for the insane. While in this mental condition (from Sunday till Wednesday) I never ceased to repeat "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health, p. 468), and I was completely restored, so that I was sent home.
Truly God is good to all those who put their trust in Him! Can any wonder that my gratitude to God for Christian Science is unbounded. With peace and joy have come the working out of many problems. I have proved for myself that "no good thing will he [God] withhold from them that fear him."
Mrs. Lucy A. Hendrick, Providence, R. I.
