The joy, the happiness which have been revealed to me...

The joy, the happiness which have been revealed to me by gaining some understanding of Christian Science causes my cup to overflow, and as it does may it reach some weary searcher after the truth. Not until I had tried in various ways to find happiness and health (with no success), did I turn to Christian Science, over five years ago. I was a nervous wreck, and not only did I myself experience great suffering, but I caused all those about me to be unhappy. In the very darkest hour, without even solicitation or human persuasion, I wended my way to a Christian Science practitioner's office. In the conversation which followed these words were quoted from the Bible: "And God saw every thing that he had made, and behold, it was very good." Words are inadequate to express what this meant to me. I immediately felt the beneficial effects of the truth, and after purchasing the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy, I earnestly began to study it to find out what had helped me. It did not take very long to awaken me to the conditions which had produced all the discord. I soon discovered that all the weapons I had previously used were carnal—the world's weapons—and that they must be supplanted by "the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God."

A lively battle ensued against the beliefs in disease, against the tenacious hold which hereditary conditions seem to have on mankind, against ignorant and malicious aims and purposes, such as envy, jealousy, pride, revenge, and all the discords of the flesh,—all these were bidden to loose their grasp where they had previously held full sway. As a result of the struggle, health has been restored; there has come to me happiness, such as I never knew before, with a growing desire to know more of the good and the beautiful and to help lead mankind out of darkness. Such being the present fruits, with earnest endeavor the full fruitage must also come. Of the many privileges that have been given me, I am most grateful for the wise provision of our dear Leader for a way to receive class instruction if we choose. I have found this provision a wise protection.
