My first Christian Science treatment overcame neuralgia...
My first Christian Science treatment overcame neuralgia from which I had suffered for several days and nights without receiving any relief from material remedies. Soon after, our little son, two years old, was healed in four weeks' treatment of a rupture from which he had suffered intensely. About the same time my husband's old enemy, a throat affection, reappeared, and grew steadily worse under the application of the usual remedies and medical treatment. When my husband became unable to eat or sleep, we telegraphed for Christian Science treatment for him, and also for myself, as I was suffering from an attack of illness, with acute stomach trouble. Immediate relief came to us both. In an hour's time all pain had gone from my husband's tortured throat, and I was about my neglected household duties.
These cases of healing in our household occurred in the spring and early summer months of 1908. Through the summer a fever raged in the town, and in September my husband was taken ill with its symptoms. We at once telegraphed for Christian Science treatment, and that evening the fever disappeared in profuse perspiration. The other symptoms did not yield so readily, but each day he was dressed, and walked to and from his office a mile distant. In three or four weeks not one ill effect remained. Later our two little children were freed from malaria by Christian Science treatment, and we are very grateful for these and many other evidences that Truth is with us "alway."
Although I only came to Christian Science for phusical healing, I found in it that peace with God for which I had longed, and all my darkness of doubt and unrest has been banished by its light. It has been such joy to find that while we are yet "a great way off," Love meets us on our way back to the Father's house, and to prove the truth of Mrs. Eddy's declaration that "Truth has a healing effect, even when not fully understood" (Science and Health, p. 152).—Mrs. Howard I. Shaw, Rawhide, Nev.
