About fourteen years ago I was taken ill, and the physician...

About fourteen years ago I was taken ill, and the physician upon whom I called said I had serious uterine trouble, and that it would be some time before I would be well again. After about three months I was able to go to my work again as teacher in a district school, which of course necessitated my being on my feet a great deal. About a year and a half later my old trouble returned with greater force, and I also suffered from a bowel disorder. I was unable to work, walk, or ride without suffering greatly. I employed another physician, who agreed with the first as to my trouble, and said that mine was one of the worst cases he had ever had. After treating with him about three months, with little relief, I went back to my first physician, hoping to regain my health; but with the same result as before. I then took medicines recommended for such cases as mine, with like results. Other ailments came upon me, and I gradually grew weaker and thinner and became utterly discouraged with, materia medica.

Having heard of Christian Science, I decided to try it for myself, with the result that after the first treatment I rode twenty-six miles, and walked quite a distance without suffering. I continued treatment for six weeks. This was in April, 1898. The female trouble was gone, and I did my housework and walked and rode anywhere I pleased. One serious ailment did not yield as quickly as the weakness, and I had treatments occasionally during the summer. I was said to have inherited this trouble, but September, 1898, found me rid of it also. It is now eleven years since my healing in Christian Science, and I have never had a vestige of the old difficulties. I am indeed grateful for my physical healing, and yet more for the spiritual understanding of the Scriptures gained from the study of Science and Health. I have learned through my healing that the Scriptural promise, "They shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint," is demonstrable. God bless Mrs. Eddy for having shown us the way.
