During the summer of 1907 I was almost bedfast from a breaddown and other complications. I had a great deal of business to attend to, and my strength had completely failed me. In despair I wrote to a Christian Science practitioner of Canyon City, Tex., for treatment. The next day (while she was treating me, as I afterward learned) I had a wonderful experience; such joy and peace came suddenly to me, and I realized that I was well! My appetite came to me (I had not been able to eat anything for some time), and I gained strength and flesh rapidly. I shall always feel thankful for this realization of God's allness, and it seems to me we cannot love and revere Mrs. Eddy too much for searching out this glorious truth for us.—J. E. Rheu, Roswell, N. Mex.
From the time Christian Science was first presented to me it has been a continual help and comfort. When used at childbirth it destroyed all my fear, which had seemed great, and saved my life and that of the child. In cases of headache, fever, cough, and severe bowel trouble, Christian Science treatment has been most successfully used for me and my children. We also have cause to rejoice in that it has been a preventive against many ills. Through the teachings of Christian Science a high mortal standard has been set up in my home, which is gradually becoming more and more harmonious. Through the same Truth-teaching I am learning how to forgive, to overcome selfishness, impatience, indifference, and resentment, and I know I am a better woman and a better mother than I ever could have been without Christian Science.
The example of the unselfish and loving life of our Leader continually encourages me, and calls forth my deepest gratitude. The Christian Science literature not only helps those who have already accepted its teaching, but it is also a means of bringing the light of Truth of others not yet interested in it; and I rejoice and am grateful for this.
