When I first heard of Christian Science, I was a great...

When I first heard of Christian Science, I was a great sufferer from neuralgic and catarrhal trouble, from which I had suffered for several years. I began to read Science and Health through curiosity, but soon became much interested in its teachings, and before long I discovered that the headaches to which I had been subject were being healed. After reading this book a short time I decided to throw away the medicine I had been taking, and to rely on God for healing. At that time the way seemed dark, as all the other members of my family were very much opposed to Christian Science, it having been greatly misrepresented to them, and I was forbidden to attend Christian Science services. However, as I pressed on, I was enabled to secure a copy of Science and Health for myself, and through faithful study of this wonderful book, and attendance at the church services when I could, I was healed of the troubles mentioned, and have been enjoying constantly better health ever since. It is now over six years since I first decided to rely entirely on God for all my healing, and I have not during that time had even day's sickness, although many forms of disease have been overcome by the truth before any one else knew they had claimed my attention.

While I am very grateful indeed for my healing, it seems a very small part of the blessing of Christian Science. The sense of protection provided by a loving heavenly Father, the illumination of our beloved Bible, the new world of spiritual reality opened before me,—these are some of things for which I desire to thank our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, with a heart full of gratitude. I am indeed thankful to God for leading me from darkness to light, and I can truly say that "each successive stage of experience unfolds new views of divine goodness and love" (Science and Health, p. 66).
