[Written for the Sentinel.]

THE PATH OF JOY

With eagerness he sought the path of joy.
With weariness he trod the road of pain!
And finding, where he sought the flower of peace,
The weeds of fear, he thought his search was vain.

Soul-weary grown, he chose the path to Truth.
He found a land sweet-scented. 'Round him lay
The wondrous flowers of peace. He learned at last
The path of joy is found no other way!
