To tell in this testimony all that the study of Christian Science...
To tell in this testimony all that the study of Christian Science has done for me would be impossible. I had never been very strong, either as a child or young woman; had with great frequency attacks of neuralgic and throat trouble, severe headaches, colds and coughs. I was in a condition that made it difficult to perform my duties as wife and mother. I was under a doctor's care a good part of the time, although I always had physicians who stood high in their profession, and who, I am quite sure, were earnest in their efforts to help me. I listened with much curiosity and interest to what my friends told me Christian Science had done for them, but did not think of it for myself, though I so greatly needed help, until my eyes, which I was using constantly, became seriously affected.
When my physician told me to go to an oculist at once, and I knew that his first direction would be to give the eyes entire rest, I decided to try Christian Science. I did this without the knowledge of any of my family, and was just a little ashamed of it. The shame should have been felt when after a very speedy recovery I did not continue to have Christian Science treatment for other ailments, and I cannot now understand, after ten years of absolute reliance upon it, during which it has met my needs both physical and mental, why I delayed two years before having another treatment. This second time I was in a miserable condition, had been under a physician's care a long time, and as a climax to a long winter of pain and sickness, had a badly swollen foot, which grew worse despite the medical care given it. After three weeks of pain and anxiety, for I was apprehensive of blood-poisoning, my husband suggested that I try Christian Science treatment. I had not worn a shoe for three weeks, nor been able to walk except with crutches. After three days' treatment in Christian Science I was entirely well, and since that time I have had no medicine of any kind. Best of all, a desire to know the reason for this healing was then awakened, and the study has been constant. Each day brings some helpful experience, and while I feel that I am only in the a-b-c of this wonderful knowledge, the results seem to be out of all proportion to the work I do, and I am filled with wonder and gratitude. I am a picture of health, and am never tired, no matter what the duties are that devolve upon me. If problems present themselves, they are solved when I am faithful to the teaching of Christian Science.
Enough could not be said in praise of Mrs. Eddy's efforts on our behalf, and I hope my own life and works may attest the value I put upon her teachings.
