FOLLOWING THE ORIGINAL

That many of the favorite passages of Scripture are capable of much clearer statement and purer interpretation than that given by the English text, was very forcibly brought to the writer's attention some weeks ago. In studying the Lesson-Sermons a fuller understanding seemed to be necessary, and turning to the ancient language with grave apprehensions, he began a study which eventuated in the lifting of a veil. Having a fair working knowledge of both Hebrew and Greek, which had proved of great value during his years of actual work in the ministry of one of the older denominations, he felt sure of success, so far as a translation was concerned, but the rending of the veil came to him as a revelation.

He had encountered many obstacles to both faith and theology in such a study, instead of which he now finds a spiritual uplift which is most wholesome and stimulating, which deepens the understanding and broadens the affections into a fuller knowledge of the Love that is God. It is with the hope that some such good may come to others that the following verses are here given, and as a slight tribute to our Leader, whose spiritual purity has brought to light so many blessings.

Psalm xci. I: Dwelling in the supreme presence, one shall abide in the protection of omnipotence. That is, "sitting down" in the presence of God, one shall "stop over night" "in the shadow" of omnipotence.
