Before we judge and condemn or refuse a fellow-creature...

Before we judge and condemn or refuse a fellow-creature who needs help of any sort, let us first put ourselves in that fellow-creature's place, and read the Golden Rule which must be written upon our hearts if we are honestly desirous of obeying the Master's command. Let us turn no one away with the remark, "God is the source of all supply, and it is available to all who do right." This is true, but let us make sure that we ourselves are doing right, are mindful of the possibility that we are to be the channels for conveying that supply. We are all one in our need of the bestowments of divine Love. The Master fed all the multitude, both the just and the unjust. Love and charity are at-one, they go hand in hand. If we let the love for our fellow-man whom we have seen fill our hearts and impel our acts, we shall be led aright in all things and learn to understand God's ways,—Him whom we have not seen. In our charity it is well to remember the old Scotch adage. "When justice is doubtful, lean to the side of mercy." Generosity is a lovable element of character. It proves in a great degree that one trusts and loves God.
