I have long felt a desire to give my testimony to the great good I have received from Christian Science. At one time, like many others who do not understand its truths, I felt that it could do nothing for me. I was afflicted with an enlarged neck, and the doctor said nothing could cure it except a very dangerous operation. About this time I was advised to try Christian Science; and a sister-in-law, who is a Scientist, offered to treat me free of charge, if I would read Science and Health, to which I consented with much misgiving. I had never looked into the "little book," and knew so little about Christian Science that even then I did not feel I could comply with my promise; but I determined to make the effort, and soon found myself deeply interested and eager to know all it had to say, and yet kept telling myself that I was not good enough for God to do so much for me.

In about a week after I began the reading and treatment, my neck seemed to be much worse, and was accompanied by a severe choking sensation. This alarmed me very much, but to my great relief my Christian Science friend came to see me, and on being told of my condition, referred me to Mrs. Eddy's statement in Science and Health, on page 168, in which she says that chemicalization is "the process which mortal mind and body undergo in the change of belief from a material to a spiritual basis." The reading of this relieved me at once, and from the time I was entirely well, which was just four weeks, I have been without any symptoms or indications of a return of the disease. These healing was in 1904.

Since that time we have had other demonstrations that are perfectly wonderful to me. When my baby, eighteen months old, drank concentrated lye, we declared the truth, and in twenty-four hours she was free from all trace of the severe burning and joined the family at the table, eating all kinds of food as she had been accustomed to do. My husband, while at his work, was struck in the eye with a sliver of iron, from which he suffered terribly; I managed to get the team hitched up, and took him three and a half miles to a Christian Science practitioner. In half an hour he was resting quietly, free from pain, and next day resumed his work as usual. I cannot tell how much Science helps me as a wife and mother in my home life, and best of all is the sweet peace it brings to our hearts.
