If reason is not the organ of Christianity, how can religion...

Rochdale (England) Times

If reason is not the organ of Christianity, how can religion be in accord with it? Annandale defines religion as "the recognition of God as an object of worship, love, and obedience." Jesus declared, "God is a Spirit and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." What gave Christ Jesus such wonderful dominion over sin, disease, and death? Was it not his perfect understanding of Spirit and of spiritual law as the only intelligent law by which man could be rightly governed? . . .

Whatever is said about Mrs. Eddy's writings, "it is incontrovertible that no other book has interpreted the Scriptures with such success in restoring the power of healing through the Christ, Truth, and so universally, as the text-book of Christian Science has done and doing to-day." . . . . The practice of Christian Science results in occasional failure, as it did with the early disciples, because the Master's followers have not reached "unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ," but Christians should "be thankful that Jesus, who was the true demonstrator of Science, did these things, and left his example for us" (Science and Health, p. 329). The Christ, Truth, is the source of Christian Science healing, and this source is available to all who will accept the Christ commands, "Preach the gospel," "Heal the sick," and Christian Scientists will rejoice with all who are seeking the last way of primitive Christianity, and who recover the power to heal spiritually. "We have access by faith," and Christian Science is proving that it is only by faith in the Christ, Truth, in its fulness, that the Master's promises are available to us.
