It is with a heart full of gratitude and love to God, and to our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, that I gratefully add my testimony to those of the thousands of others who have been raised from sorrow and suffering into the understanding of the omnipotence, omnipresence, and omniscience of our Father-Mother God. Five years ago I first heard of Christian Science from my daughter, who had become much interested in it, and who told me of some wonderful cases of healing. Some time after, I was taken seriously ill with stomach trouble, and also suffered from sleeplessness. I had the care and attention of two most excellent doctors and three nurses, who did their very best to relieve me, but the illness lasted for three months,—sometimes I felt better, sometimes worse. A third doctor was consulted, who suggested a thorough change of air and scene,—a trip abroad,—which I took, accompanied by my nurse, who received orders from him as to diet, exercise, etc., as my heart was said to be in a terribly weak state.

After three weeks in Switzerland I became better, the lovely bright sunshine and surroundings quite cheered me, and at the end of five weeks we returned. I parted with the nurse, and went to stay with my daughter, though still keeping to the same careful diet. I began to feel very much as if another attack of sickness was coming, and in a few days I was indeed very ill. A doctor was called, who pronounced me in a very weak and dangerous state. Some time previously I had almost made up my mind that when able to go to London I would see a Christian Science practitioner, and this was my opportunity. I refused to take any more medicine and just kept very quiet, recovering sufficiently to carry out my wish. I received treatment for a fortnight, but was thoroughly healed after my first treatment (the only present one). I was told to throw away all medicines, and to eat whatever was set before me; which I did, and felt all the better. Since then I have enjoyed the best of health, am able to undertake any exertion or exercise, knowing that God is my strength.

I desire to express my deep gratitude to our revered Leader, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science, for her loving labor in bringing this saving truth to mankind, and in making it clear to all humanity how to follow the footsteps of our blessed Master.
