After suffering for over thirty years with a severe bowel trouble and complications resulting from the same, I was healed in Christian Science. These conditions had grown worse after the birth of my first child. I had tried the best physicians, both in the East and in the West, and finally an operation was advised; however, I decided to try hygienic and massage treatment instead. Not deriving the benefit I had expected to receive from this source, I became very much disheartened, and had Christian Science not come to the rescue, I fear I would have given up entirely. I must state here that I was also taking treatment from an oculist for my eyes, and was wearing glasses at the time I took up the study of Science. Some months previous to this, one who was not a Scientist told me of the healing of one of her friends, through Christian Science. I was not aware at the time that it had made any impression upon me, but in an hour of desperate need, after suffering for a week, it came to me that Christian Science would heal me. All during the day this thought was with me. I resisted it, until toward evening, and then went to a practitioner. This was Thursday. I had but slight physical relief with this first treatment, but a wonderful mental uplifting. Saturday night and Sunday I seemed to be very ill, but there was in consciousness the thought that all would be well. I found myself constantly saying the Lord's Prayer, and during Sunday night perfect freedom came to me. On Monday morning I awoke to find myself absolutely healed. Oh, the light that poured into my life! the peace—the love for humanity—the desire to do good—to overcome all that is unlike God. It convinced me that this was the truth! Had my healing only been in the physical, I do not think I should have become a student of Christian Science, but this new light that comes into our lives brings us nearer to God and the Bible. The Bible, which before was a sealed book, became my daily guide. For three months I lived in these books, the Bible and Science and Health, and did little else but satisfy my longings for Truth. Old things had passed away; all things had become new.

I hope later to give some of the beautiful demonstrations we have had with the children during the last nine years. Every need has been met in Christian Science. We really have been transformed by the "renewing" of our minds.
