Hoping that this testimony will be of help to some one...

Hoping that this testimony will be of help to some one in despair, I will state my condition when I took up the study of Christian Science. From childhood I was despondent and a great sufferer. As I grew to womanhood, I had medical treatment much of the time, but without receiving permanent help. In 1900 an operation was performed which left me very nervous; then my people decided to send me to Europe,—Sweden being my native country, and noted for its mineral springs. The summer was spent at one of the most famous springs, and I seemed to be benefited somewhat, but after about two years I again became very ill. I was under the care of two of the best physicians at the place where I was staying, one of them being especially noted for his success in treating nervous cases. I seemed better for a time, but soon found myself as ill as before. My distress seemed greater than ever and the sense of fear became almost unbearable. When I begged the doctor to give me something that would relieve me, he frankly told me there was no medicine which could help me, and advised me to give up my business and go to some quiet place for rest; and this I did.

About five years previous to this I had heard of Christian Science, and at that time had bought a copy of the text-book, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," but did not seem able to understand it. When material remedies failed, one after another, the thought would come to me that if nothing else helped me I would try Christian Science. In the spring of 1902 I found myself in great distress, and having become satisfied there was no help for me in material means, I was willing to turn to Christian Science. My first visit to the Reading Rooms convinced me that Christian Science would help me, and after two weeks' treatment I felt very much stronger and benefited in every way. With a heart full of gratitude, my only desire was to know God aright. I would also like to say that my mother has been greatly benefited in Christian Science, after having been under a doctor's care almost continuously for years. Science and Health is now her daily study, and she is very grateful to God for Christian Science. I am thankful to God, and to Mrs. Eddy for all the blessings I have received and am receiving daily.
