I came to Christian Science for the healing of the body,...

I came to Christian Science for the healing of the body, not knowing how much more the human mind was in need of healing. At the very first I received the impression that I would immediately be transformed, but in time I found I must work out my own salvation. I have been on stormy seas, when it was only God's hand that upheld me and kept me from being lost in the waves. Many times has the "still, small voice" whispered "peace, be still." I have found by experience that when trouble seems to threaten we should at once go to the Bible and Science and Health for guidance. A year ago I seemed to be in trouble, and was even threatened with the law. I asked human aid, and it failed me. In my extremity I went to the Bible and Science and Health, and there found help. I wish I might say to all beginners in the study of Christian Science, Keep close to God, and do not allow yourselves to become discouraged. The way may sometimes seem steep and rugged, but we can always keep our thoughts good and pure. We should search for God's promises, as they are given to us in the Bible, and commit them to memory. Many times have I come to the point that I did not know where to place my thoughts, for they seemed to wander, but by repeating some helpful Bible texts, or some passages from Science and Health, I have been wonderfully helped and brought back to the path which ever leads upward. We should have as many of our Leader's books as we are able to purchase, also the Sentinel and Journal.
