The Lectures

The announcement that Miss Mary Brookins of Minneapolis would discuss different aspects of Christian Science at the Marquam Grand last night [October 1], had the effect of filling all the available space of the big house. In introducing Miss Brookins, Willis S. Duniway said in part, —

No idea, no doctrine, no Gospel can make progress if it fails to appeal to the love of truth and right that God has implanted in every human breast. says Henry Cope, "is not a fence about a man; it is a force within him." So the doctrine of Christian Science makes headway because it is an expression of sincere belief and purpose by thousands who seek an answer to the ever new and ever old question. What is Man, and Why? — and because Christian Science has a basis of truth for those who receive and accept its precepts, that makes them better and nobler men and women.—The Oregonian.
