God Revealed to Man
There sometimes comes a time in the lives of men when every material support fails; when they are brought face to face with the fact that either God must save them or they go out into a night without the guidance of a ray of light,—into a long, cold night of discord,—helpless and alone. What a thought, and yet if God does not reveal himself in some way, how can it be otherwise with mortals? We cannot know there is a God unless God acts through man. All the opinions and theories in the realm of mortal thought cannot change one single, solitary fact; either God is, or He is not. If He is, then where is He? The history of mortal man shows that he has delved into materiality for ages, seeking health and happiness; but his search has been in vain, he has not found a single remedy that is consistently successful or even ameliorative. If this be true, and I do not think it can be truthfully disputed, then it is evident that God, the Giver of all that is good,—of all that man needs,—is not in the material, else would men have found Him long ago; therefore common sense and reason then lead us to took for Him in the mental, the spiritual realm. There we find Him revealed as divine Mind, the intelligence that controls and governs all that is true, real, and eternal. When man awakes to this grand and glorious fact, he has learned a lesson in Christian Science, and when the arrows of criticism, shot at him by the worldly-wise, strike upon his shield, they fall broken and harmless.
Never lose an opportunity of seeing anything beautiful. Welcome it in every lair lace, every lair sky. every lair flower, and thank Him for it who is the fountain of all liveliness, and drink it simply and earnestly with all your eyes; it is a charmed draught, a cup of blessing.
