To be at Peace
One of the foremost essentials of Christian Science is to be at peace. We should be at peace with God, our neighbor, and ourselves. "Peace be with you," was one of the greetings of our Saviour. He knew that where the Angel of Peace had entered, discord could not hold sway and harmony must abide. How much it means to be at peace! When mortal mind rebels within us and we are in a faultfinding mood and permit hate, malice, envy, pride, or selfishness to enter our hearts and get the upper hand, how it rejoices us to overcome the enemy, and hear again that sweet refrain, "Peace, be still!" causing the turbulent waters to subside, letting in the sunshine of Truth and dispelling the storm cloud of error, permitting us to reflect the radiance of Love.
How seldom we realize the import and meaning of this small but powerful word! It comes to the soldier on the battlefield bringing thoughts of "Home, Sweet Home," and a re-union with his loved ones; it comes to us in the hour of sorrow, bringing comfort to our bleeding hearts; it comes to us in the evening hour when the toils of the day are done; it comes to us when we have overcome our trials and tribulations,—it comes to us through Christian Science. Through this understanding of Truth we can secure peace and everlasting happiness. It is the only Comforter.
Let us therefore meet our friends with "Peace be with you," and error with "Peace, be still!" Christian Science has again opened the way for the demonstration of "On earth peace," and we feel most grateful to Christ Jesus, "The Prince of Peace," and to our beloved Leader, who has shown us the way anew. May the blessed influence of Christian Science be felt throughout the world, and may it bring about universal peace.
