It is almost four years since I first heard of Christian Science
It is almost four years since I first heard of Christian Science. At that time I had been in a hospital a few weeks with a disease that did not give much hope of future well-being. I remember one day asking the doctor how soon I would be able to leave the hospital and go home, which was not in the city, and he simply answered me, "No one can tell when you will get well, you are liable to die." He also said that if they were not able to check the further development of the disease, I would have to undergo an operation. I did not say anything at the time, but the next day I told the nurse that I would not give my consent to an operation.
A day or two after this Christian Science was brought to my notice, but as I did not know what sort of treatment it was I sent my sister to the Scientist's house to learn more about it. When she came back she said the Scientist had told her that I could be well again, and that God would heal me as well as any one else. This of course gave me great hope, for I had not the least faith in material treatment. Knowing that my suffering was the result of sin, I felt that I could be healed only if I were reconciled to God.
I was taken from the hospital on Saturday morning and received treatment, and in two days I was able to get up, and after eight treatments I went to the Scientist's house, and to the meeting. I was well, and have been in good health ever since.
