In gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done...
In gratitude to God for what Christian Science has done for me, I would like to give my testimony. A little over twelve years ago I was healed through Christian Science. I was afflicted with several diseases, from which no earthly power could free me, and for two years I had been unable to work. Since my healing through Christian Science I am well and have gained in weight.
For the last ten years, I have devoted my time to healing the sick, and God has blessed my work manifold. I realize what a welcome guest Der Christian Science Herold is with all Germans who do not understand the English language. My desire to understand Mrs. Eddy's books was so great that I learned enough English to read them. How happy I am to know that the Bible must be comprehended spiritually and its teachings must be lived in order to accomplish the healing as Jesus commanded.
When I became interested in this truth I took up the study of the German Bible, having always been a Bible student, but I thought, as did some others, that the Christian Scientists did not believe in the whole of the Bible. I was told that Christian Science teaches that God never made evil. This confused me at first. In Isaiah we read, "I form the light, and create darkness; I make peace, and create evil; I the Lord do all these things." I soon learned, however, to understand that passage aright. When I was awakened to the light through the teachings of Christian Science, I saw in what a dark condition I had been when God showed me this way of peace. I saw how evil had held me captive, and how the understanding of Truth gives us power to gain our freedom.
