It is now over a year since I have been in Science, trusting Truth and Love to sustain me, and finding that I no longer need the medicine to which I was for years before a slave. Last year, all medicine failing, I decided to try a change of climate, and went to Denver, visited there a few days, and went on to Boulder, expecting to remain there, as I thought I surely would be well at that place; but being very homesick, I could scarcely get along.
One day when I was crying, the thought came to me, "Why don't you go back to Denver and try Christian Science?" Before going to Boulder I visited a friend, an old gentleman who had been healed of asthma of over forty years' standing. I had been told about Christian Science while there, and it caused me to think about it. The thought came again and again to try Science and go home, so I went back to Denver and took two months' treatment, gaining nearly twenty-eight pounds. I was at first unable to eat anything but baby foods, such as milk and lime water. The change in me is so great that words cannot express my thanks. Among other things, I was lifted from the bondage of wearing glasses. Before returning home, I had the opportunity of taking class instruction, which has been a wonderful help to me. My teacher being kind and full of love, did not send me home and forget me, but still seeks to point my footsteps to a higher plane through admonition to study the Bible and Science and Health.
Praise God for bestowing so many rich blessings on me, and I am grateful to Mrs. Eddy for all she has done for this age. I also thank all who have helped me along my journey.—Bertha V. Karr, Maryville, Mo.
