LET US COME DOWN FROM THE MOUNTAIN

WE read in the eighth chapter of Matthew that after Christ Jesus came down from the mountain, he healed many people quickly and perfectly. The mountain from which the Master came down must surely have been a place of communion with the Most High.

Is not our need, as students of Christian Science, often to ascend the mountain of holiness and gain the heavenly light and conviction of the truth of spiritual being which we can take down into the valleys of human needs and with this truth comfort and heal mankind? Only this illumination and conviction put into practice will enable us to grow sufficiently in grace to heal as Jesus healed and centuries later as Mary Baker Eddy healed.

It is only an understanding of the Christ, Truth, revealing the perfection and unity of God and man, which brings the conviction that, as Mrs. Eddy says in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (pp. 381), "Every law of matter or the body, supposed to govern man, is rendered null and void by the law of Life, God."
