In Isaiah (59:19) is the promise, "When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord shall lift up a standard against him." This promise was of great comfort to me when the enemies of fear and doubt were flooding my thought.

At one time I was troubled by a condition which I feared was cancer. When this difficulty did not yield after several weeks of earnest prayerful work, I asked a Christian Science practitioner for help.

During our conversation the practitioner stressed the value of membership in The Mother Church, I realized that because Christian Science presents the standard of Truth, my safety lay in placing myself completely under that standard. I was already a member of a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. After our visit I applied for membership in The Mother Church, and never again was I harassed, as I had been, by the suggestion to seek medical aid.
