After four years of active duty...

After four years of active duty in the Air Force, my feet became badly crippled. I requested the help of a Christian Science practitioner and relied on God for my healing, realizing that prayer can change the material evidence. The healing came soon and has been permanent.

Some months later, I was in charge of renting a new nineteen-story building under construction. The work was very arduous, entailing many hours of overtime. I developed a severe pain in my right lung. I could not lie down; so I sat up all night reading Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and declaring the truth as best I could.

By the next night the pain was in both lungs. I was so weak that I could not go to the office. I then telephoned to a Christian Science practitioner. The pain lessened almost immediately, and I was able to declare the truth more effectively. I constantly tried to realize that man, made in the image of God, is spiritual and not material; that apart from God, nothing is present or has power; therefore nothing can impair man's strength or freedom. These facts were steadfastly held to with great determination in spite of physical evidence to the contrary.
