SICKNESS IS ILLEGITIMATE

A Student of Christian Science was telling of a business experience which occurred soon after the payment of federal income taxes became a legal requirement in the United States. Her employer, who was to handle some of the new income tax business in their town, brought her some pamphlets on the subject and asked her to study them. She did study this meager bit of information.

Two days later she was amazed at the audacity of her employer when he brought in a client and announced that his secretary was an expert on income tax reports. She could hardly retain her poise, and the instant the client left she turned to her employer and exclaimed emphatically: "You told a downright lie! I am not a tax expert!"

The practitioner to whom she was telling this incident thought: "If only we would turn on every claim of sickness and sin with vehemence and conviction and declare positively and earnestly: 'You are a downright lie! I am not a sick mortal. In fact, I am not a mortal at all, but a spiritual idea of God.' How quickly the problems of mortal sense could be solved!"
