GRATITUDE BRINGS HARVEST
Out of an experience enriched by many proofs of God's power and love, the Psalmist declared (Ps. 104:33), "I will sing unto the Lord as long as I live : I will sing praise to my God while I have my being." The gratitude he expressed is a quality of thought that can be active in every heart. We know that we experience what we admit as real, for thought is externalized. An unfailing way to experience more good is to acknowledge the possibility of it and prepare for this greater unfoldment. As we enlarge our comprehension of good, we naturally refuse to admit evil as real and so exclude it from our experience.
Gratitude for and expectancy of good usually accompany prayer. But to thank God for His goodness and retain in thought the expectation of evil is inconsistent. Having prayed, do we still fear that sickness will persist and problems remain unsolved? It is more scientific to expect good to rule evil out of thought and complete the demonstration.
One reason for one's joyously affirming the presence of good is that good is lawful. The law of God is a law of the certain, continuous unfoldment of good. To be discouraged at a time of trial indicates that one has more to learn about the unchanging nature of divine Principle. Gratefully to acknowledge God, good, in the midst of a trying experience is to rob error of its claim to victory.
