After living in a big city for many years, we decided to move out into the country. We had lived there for only a short time when my feet began to bother me. I was unable to walk, and the pain was at times unbearable. This condition continued for quite some time. One night the pain was so severe that I told my husband I was going to bed. I remember creeping up the stairs, and I managed to get into bed. I lay there in the darkness, discouraged and crying.

When a little later my son came home, he asked, "Would you like me to read to you, Mother?" I said I should like to have him do so, and he began to read to me from Science and Health by Mary Baker Eddy. He read the chapter on Prayer.

Shortly after he began to read, I stopped crying and became peaceful. He read for about a half hour. He then kissed me good night, turned off the light, and went out. I fell asleep immediately and slept all night. In the morning when I awakened I was completely free. Although before my healing I could hardly wear shoes or slippers, I could now wear any kind of shoes.
