It is with deepest gratitude and humility that I give this testimony of the healing power of Christian Science. It is one of many instances I have experienced in the forty-six years that I have been a student of Science, relying entirely on the power of our Father-Mother God to overcome the trials and temptations that beset mortals.

Early one morning I found myself on the floor of my apartment unable to rise because of a physical difficulty that might have been called a stroke. I was alone and could not get to the telephone. I tried to keep in mind as clearly as I could the comforting promises of God's sustaining power, found in the Bible (Isa. 41:10), "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." I also held to Mary Baker Eddy's positive statements of truth, found in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 228): "There is no power apart from God," and (p. 134), "There is divine authority for believing in the superiority of spiritual power over material resistance."

I was able to move about slowly until finally I succeeded in raising my body high enough to get onto the davenport and lie down. As soon as I could think clearly, I managed to get to the telephone and call my sister, who came directly and arranged for a Christian Science friend, who lived in the same apartment building, to look after me until I could be moved. Then she took me to her home.
