I was introduced to Christian Science by a friend. She came to see me one day and found me in much distress with a skin disease on my hands. This disease had recurred twice a year since I was a child of about eight, and this time it was so severe that I could hardly perform any of my household duties.

My friend asked why I did not call or go to see a Christian Science practitioner. I had not known there were such persons, although I had known there was a religion called Christian Science and that this friend belonged to a branch Church of Christ, Scientist. I was impressed by her calm, confident, poised attitude toward any problem that arose, but I had not connected it before with her religion.

I was certainly eager to try something; so I called a Christian Science practitioner and made an appointment to see her. She talked with me of God and of man's relationship to Him and gave me absent treatment. I obtained a copy of the Christian Science textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and read every spare moment until I had read it through. In about three weeks, my hands were healed, and the condition has never returned. That was fourteen years ago.
