LIMITLESS GOOD

Christian Science reveals the true concept of God and man. In this Science, we learn that God is Spirit, infinite Mind, limitless good. The Bible tells us in the first chapter of Genesis that God made man in His own image and likeness and that all of God's creation is "very good." Therefore it is correct for us to reason that man, the creation of God, reflects and expresses only spiritual qualities, the unlimited goodness and perfection of his Maker.

A mortal with his beliefs of sin, sickness, and lack of good is the material concept of man as presented in the second chapter of Genesis. There is no good in matter. The belief that matter is good or that it actually exists is the serpent of material sense.

Mary Baker Eddy's definition of "serpent" reads in part (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 594), "The first lie of limitation; finity; the first claim that there is an opposite of Spirit, or good, termed matter, or evil." All good is in Spirit, limitless. The serpent of material sense would limit good and finds no response or foothold in a spiritualized consciousness.
