CHRISTIAN SCIENCE AND BUSINESS

In Christian Science we are taught to correct our thinking about anything evil. After mentioning negative decisions regarding the causes of diseases, Mary Baker Eddy counsels us (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 392): "Reverse the case. Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously."

As the Christian Scientist corrects his thought about his business, he stands porter at the door of his thinking and excludes suggestions of failure or lack. He admits that when one is about his Father's business, he is abundantly provided with everything that he needs with which to be fruitful and to progress. He realizes that in business, as in all other legitimate activities, he is primarily dealing with spiritual ideas. He is endeavoring to serve God and mankind.

He realizes that he must see every person, place, or thing in his business experience, past, present, or future, as in reality a spiritual idea of God's creating. When a person in his business circle commits a dishonest act, the alert Christian Scientist immediately denies that it can be expressed by man, God's idea, since dishonesty is not an attribute of God. He declares that man, in God's likeness, as the Bible describes the real man, inherently reflects and expresses the integrity of Truth.
