About ten years ago I was stricken with a hernia. My employers wanted me to go to a doctor and be examined. I did so, and the doctor advised me to have an operation immediately. To this I would not consent. The insurance company sent me to its doctor for another examination. He too advised me to have an immediate operation. Again I refused, for I wanted to rely entirely on God.

I realized that the condition had to be overcome in my own consciousness; so I began to clear my thinking of everything that was unlike God, such as hatred, resentment, jealousy, irritation, and sinful thinking. Then I started to fill my consciousness with thoughts of Love, the infinite source of all good. Soon I began to make progress, and one morning I awoke to find I was completely healed. All trace of the hernia had disappeared, and I thanked God for this wonderful healing, for which I am extremely grateful.

I also wish to tell of a healing I had of palsy. One morning when I awoke, I was unable to get out of bed or to move my limbs. I asked for the help of a Christian Science practitioner. I was very grateful that I could declare the truth for myself. The practitioner and I worked prayerfully for some time. One day I turned my thought in sheer humbleness to God and prayed as I had never prayed before. I said: "Dear God, take care of Your son, for he needs You now. I can do nothing without You."
