THE WARMTH OF LOVE

Membership in a Church of Christ, Scientist, consists of much more than signing the church roll, accepting the Tenets of Christian Science, attending church, and taking part in the various activities. It carries with it a solemn obligation and a sincere desire to let the Christ, the manifestation of God, the very character and substance of divine Love, be active and evidenced in our every thought and deed.

Referring to membership in the spiritual Church, Mary Baker Eddy writes (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 35): "Our church is built on the divine Principle, Love. We can unite with this church only as we are new-born of Spirit, as we reach the Life which is Truth and the Truth which is Life by bringing forth the fruits of Love,—casting out error and healing the sick."

Christ Jesus was the great Exemplar for church members. He devoted his whole earthly experience to the demonstration of his true nature as the Son of God, which animated his every thought and act. He exemplified the warm, living, vital, healing, and enlightening power which lifts men above the mists of earth to the present enjoyment of heavenly resources.
