I first became interested in Christian Science...

I first became interested in Christian Science about eighteen years ago. One evening in the lounge of a motion picture theater I was attracted to a literature distribution box, on which was printed an invitation to take a piece of the literature. I selected a copy of The Herald of Christian Science (German Edition). The articles and testimonies impressed me very much, and I thought I would like to investigate Christian Science further, since my former religion was not giving me any satisfaction.

Shortly after I had read the Herald, I was sitting on a bench in a park not far from my home when I noticed a woman on the same bench reading a Christian Science periodical. I spoke to her and told her that I was interested in knowing more about this religion. She suggested that I go to a Wednesday evening testimony meeting in a branch Church of Christ, Scientist, where I would hear testimonies given by people who had been healed in Christian Science. The next Wednesday I followed her advice, and I have been attending a branch church regularly ever since.

One of my first healings was that of a sprained ankle. The pain was so intense that I was in a state of shock, but I managed to hold in thought statements of truth. A little later I read from Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and I continued reading until early in the morning. After a brief period of sleep I was up early to prepare breakfast. By noon I was entirely free, and then I went out and did some shopping which involved considerable walking. That was the end of the difficulty.
