Signs of the Times
From an article in the Youngstown Vindicator, Ohio reprinted from The London Times London, England
To love God is to put his will and his kingdom first in one's own life, and then to seek to further his purposes in the common life of man. The Christian's obedience to God is not that of a subservient slave to a despotic master, motivated by fear; it is that of a freeman who offers his freedom and his capacities to one whose service is itself perfect freedom. Too often obedience to God is thought of as involving the limitation of human freedom, but actually it is the one supreme condition of that freedom. "The truth shall make you free," and the truth about God is apprehended through obedience to his will.
