OBEYING GOD'S LAW

OBEDIENCE to the divine commands brings harmony to daily living. The commandments of God must be observed in both their moral and spiritual aspects. As human thought gradually becomes spiritualized, we dismiss pride and the reliance upon mere human endeavor and accept government by divine Principle. Mary Baker Eddy says in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 458), "The Christian Scientist wisely shapes his course, and is honest and consistent in following the leadings of divine Mind."

To progress spiritually, we must live in accordance with moral and spiritual law. We must dismiss error from our experience and replace it with the truth. The Christian Scientist understands that error is unreal and powerless, but he does not ignore it. God's law demands that error, a belief in a power apart from God, be condemned and repudiated; it must never be condoned.

As men understand the omnipotence and omnipresence of God and the reality of their true selfhood as spiritual ideas, they will reverse all error's claims. Through sincerity and an understanding trust in God, they will recognize that peace, affluence, health, progress, and perfection are natural to man, God's expression, and can never be obstructed or impaired.
