LAW AND ORDER

"ORDER is Heav'n's first law," said Alexander Pope. This truth is evidenced in the nature of the universe as pictured in the first chapter of Genesis. Here is no confused or disorderly creation. Here is the revelation of God as divine Principle, presenting in perfect order the universe of spiritual ideas. As a final evidence of the divine order, according to the Scriptural account, "God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness" (verse 26).

God's creation is thereupon declared to be finished and good. Order is God's edict in the everlasting now. Yes, "Order is Heav'n's first law"! In her work "Miscellaneous Writings," Mary Baker Eddy says (p. 104), "In obedience to the divine nature, man's individuality reflects the divine law and order of being."

Christian Science teaches that it is of value to comprehend God, divine Principle, and His perfect law. Thus one has a basis for orderly conduct in individual and world affairs. Spiritual order is the result of divine law. This divine law should be the pattern for all human law.
