My introduction to Christian Science...

My introduction to Christian Science came about twenty years ago, when I was very much in need of a physical healing. I had had an impacted tooth extracted, and infection set in and spread throughout my entire system. I was confined to bed for about eight months and was under constant medical care. When the condition failed to respond to medical treatment, the doctor finally suggested that I try a change of climate.

I was taken to a city in the mountains, and an apartment was found for me in the home of a Christian Scientist. Again I had medical care. The case was diagnosed as septicemia, and the doctors gave very little hope for my recovery.

Many times during these trying days the landlady gave me Christian Science literature to read and recommend that I have Christian Science treatment, but I was skeptical and refused to listen. This woman was very loving and kind, however. One day she gave me a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy and asked me to read the chapter on Prayer; this I did. After reading that chapter, I decided to try Christian Science, for I knew of nothing else left for me to do.
